Words Flowing: The Power of Letting Go and Surrendering to Life's Current

Shared by a client and inspired by her journey of personal growth.

ree

Hello dear readers of MyLifeCoachingHub,

Today, I want to share a deeply moving reflection from one of our clients. Her words touched me profoundly, capturing the essence of what we often explore here: the transformative beauty of acceptance, forgiveness, and flowing with life's natural rhythm rather than fighting against it. With her permission (shared anonymously), she titled it Words Flowing. It's a poetic closure to a challenging chapter, reminding us all of the strength found in surrender.

Here are her heartfelt words:

Words Flowing

I have let it go and allowed it

I have nurtured it all these years

I didn't know better, and I forgive myself

A child can do nothing about it, and neither could I really

Swimming against the current is pointless—I learned that as a little girl, swimming in the river during summers.

The most important thing is not to blame yourself or your inner child.

It is what it is. Truly everything happens for a good reason.

Have patience and show gratitude, no matter how negative the situation may seem. Everything is relative and malleable.

I am not a victim; I was a co-player in a less-than-ideal story with a less-than-happy ending.

The human brain, the most brilliant invention, can be so toxic to itself and others. Lacking compassion and empathy is a heavy burden.

For a supporter or co-player, it's essential to listen to their feelings.

I see this as the closing of a chapter in my life.

No judgment, just being.

Everything is good, and everything will be good.

The universe keeps spinning on its axis

Without me

Tomorrow, everything can start anew

Tomorrow is positive

Tomorrow we have learned everything

Tomorrow becomes today if we allow it.

A Client's Perspective on Healing

This reflection resonates deeply with principles from mindfulness and acceptance-based therapies. As Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), teaches in his book Wherever You Go, There You Are: "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf." Our client echoes this wisdom through her childhood memory of the river - fighting the current exhausts us, but allowing ourselves to float brings us safely downstream.

She also embodies radical acceptance, a key concept in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) developed by Marsha Linehan. Radical acceptance means fully acknowledging reality without judgment, which frees us from unnecessary suffering. By forgiving herself and her inner child, she releases the toxicity of self-blame and steps into compassion.

From a coaching perspective, this is powerful: recognizing we are co-creators in our stories, not mere victims. The brain's negativity bias (as explored in Rick Hanson's Hardwiring Happiness) can indeed turn brilliant minds against themselves, but cultivating gratitude and patience rewires us toward positivity.

Her closing lines fill me with hope - the universe continues, and tomorrow offers a fresh start. When we allow it, healing flows naturally.

Closing Thoughts

If you're navigating a tough chapter, remember: no judgment, just being. Everything happens for a reason, and surrender doesn't mean defeat - it means trust.
